Fundraising
The fundraising for this trip involved a lot of planning and relied heavily on the generosity of friends and work colleagues. We held a few table quizzes and also had a trad gig in the Spailpin Fanach. I would like everybody who contributed to this worthy cause.
The trad gig was well attended and were treated to a great night of music and song. Performers on the night included The Fuchsia Band, back from their travels and who always put on an energetic and entertaining show. Cork singer Ger Wolfe sang some of his distinctively Cork ballads and took to the stage with Dan O’Callaghan, a piper from Cork who has travelled around the world playing music. Tommie Cunniffe played some great sets on the accordion accompanied by karl Nesbitt. John Mitchell started off the night on the flute, with Muireann Ni Dhonnabhain on the fiddle, Mairtin de Cogain on the bodhran and I played the uilleann pipes.
