Welcome
Welcome to ISPCC in Africa. A group of 17 mostly Irish people travelled to Lesotho at the end of April 2007. This site catalogues the work we did and the good time had by all. You will find a more detailed description in the Expedition section of the site.
We left on April 22nd from Dublin and following quite a long journey reached our destination more than 24 hours later at a school near Butha Butha in Lesohto. The plan was to build a playground and renovate the school but on bus from Jo’burg Airport we were told that the plan had changed and that we were going to be building a classroom! This was a slightly daunting change in plan but everybody in the group got stuck into the task at hand. We had only 5 days to build the classroom so the pressure was on!
In spite of this pressure, the trip was thoroughly enjoyable thanks to the great spirit of the group. There was a sense of great achievement at the handover ceremony when the locals gathered and the kids from the school performed traditional dances and sang songs for us. We even provided some Irish culture ourselves with a short ceili dance.
